This weekend the New Museum will be hosting the Festival of Ideas For the New City along the Bowery. As part of this event, Nuit Blanche New York is organizing Flash:Light, a “spectacular nighttime environment of temporary, site-specific public art that re-imagines urban space…”
SOFTlab will be presenting polyp.lux, a hanging installation made of 1500 LEDs and Mylar in the entrance to the courtyard at 233 Mott Street, the former St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral School.
In addition, they have produced a projection piece for the facade of the New Museum along with other artists including Acconci Studio and Terreform One. The projections begin Saturday night, May 7 @ 8pm.
Also exhibiting at the festival, Leong Leong will be presenting work as part of the Audi Urban Future Initiative. There you can “examine the work of prominent architects as they grapple with questions of mobility and urbanism in a large-scale, three dimensional model of Manhattan along with five neighborhood-specific interventions designed by NYC-based architects.”
